ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin |  Der CDU-Politiker Friedrich Merz hat offiziell seine Kandidatur für den Parteivorsitz erklärt. Bei der Neuwahl auf dem Parteitag im April gehe es nicht nur um eine Personalentscheidung, sondern auch um eine “Richtungsentscheidung für die CDU”, sagte Merz am Dienstag auf einer Pressekonferenz in Berlin. Mit Blick auf seine Mitbewerber Armin Laschet und Jens Spahn sagte er: “Wir haben seit heute die Alternative zwischen Kontinuität und Aufbruch und Erneuerung. Ich stehe für Erneuerung.”

Die CDU müsse eine Partei sein, “die gerade in solchen Zeiten ein Stabilitätsanker in Deutschland sein muss”, sagte Merz. Scharf kritisierte er auf der Pressekonferenz zur Vorstellung seiner Kandidatur die politischen Entscheidungen der großen Koalition: “In der Summe sind sie eine Belastung für die junge Generation.”

Es ist seine zweite Kandidatur nach 2018: Damals war Merz der Mitbewerberin Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer unterlegen. Am Dienstagmorgen hatten die CDU-Politiker Armin Laschet und Jens Spahn an gleicher Stelle ihre gemeinsame Kandidatur für den CDU-Vorsitz und -Vizevorsitz bekannt gegeben.
