ABQnews| Deutschland / Irland | Vor dem Hintergrund des geplanten EU-Austritts Großbritanniens reist Bundesaußenminister Heiko Maas (SPD) heute zu politischen Gesprächen nach Irland (Pk. 10.00 Uhr). Auf Einladung seines irischen Kollegen Simon Coveney hält Maas zunächst eine Rede auf der irischen Botschafterkonferenz in Dublin. Im Anschluss ist ein bilaterales Gespräch mit Coveney geplant, bei dem vermutlich auch der Brexit Thema ist.
Großbritannien will zum 29. März aus der EU austreten. Bislang gibt es noch keinen gültigen Austrittsvertrag. Im Falle eines harten Brexits droht die Wiedereinführung von Grenzkontrollen zwischen dem EU-Mitglied Irland und Großbritannien. Irland kündigte bereits an, die EU dann um Nothilfen in Millionenhilfe zu bitten.
