ABQnews| Zimbabwe / Harare | Maurreen wurde mit 13 Zwangsverheiratet. Sie verlor Ihre Kindheit, Gesundheit und Ausbildung. Sie kam aus der Schule und ihr Vater, ein armer Farmer stellte ihr den Mann vor den sie heiraten soll. Er war 3mal so alt wie sie. Im selben Alter wurde sie schwanger und verlor das Baby. Danach war ihr Ehemann gewalttätig.
So wie Ihr ergeht es vielen Mädchen in Zimbabwe. Ehen mit Minderjährigen sind legal. Um aus der Armut zu entkommen ist der Verkauf der Mädchen eine schnelle Art an Geld zu kommen. Seit Jahren kämpft die Organisation „girls no pride“ (Mädchen sind keine Bräute) gegen diese Art des Menschenhandels. Zimbabwe ist eines der ärmsten Länder der Welt. Korruption und Misswirtschaft zwingen viele Eltern dazu ihre Mädchen zu verkaufen.
So lange Frauen nicht gleichberechtigt und emanzipiert sind, wird sich diese Praxis leider nicht ändern.
