ABQnews| Deutschland / Weißrussland / EU | Bundesaußenminister Heiko Maas hat sich dafür ausgesprochen, den belarussischen Präsidenten Alexander Lukaschenko auf eine neue Sanktionsliste der EU zu setzen.
Vor einem Treffen mit seinen EU-Kollegen in Luxemburg sagte er am Montag, seit dem jüngsten Treffen habe sich nichts verbessert. Vom Herrschaftssystem Lukaschenkos werde weiter Gewalt ausgeübt. Zudem würden friedliche Demonstranten verhaftet. Er sei dafür, eine neue Sanktionsliste gegen Belarus zu erstellen, auf der Lukaschenko stehen solle, sagte Maas.
Lukaschenko hatte nach der Wahl am 9. August den Sieg für sich beansprucht, die Opposition spricht von Wahlbetrug. Seitdem halten die Massenproteste an, die Sicherheitskräfte gehen teils brutal gegen Demonstranten vor. Lukaschenko regiert das Land seit 26 Jahren autokratisch.
