ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin | Zwei von drei Männern sind in Deutschland übergewichtig. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt am Dienstag mitteilte, brachten im vergangenen Jahr 62 Prozent der erwachsenen Männer zu viel auf die Waage. Damit blieb der Anteil im Vergleich zur letzten Erhebung 2013 stabil. Der Anteil übergewichtiger Frauen betrug demnach nur 44 Prozent.

Die Angaben basieren auf dem sogenannten Body-Mass-Index, der das Körpergewicht ins Verhältnis zur Körpergröße setzt. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation stuft Erwachsene mit einem Body-Mass-Index über 25 als übergewichtig ein. Mit einem Wert über 30 gelten Erwachsene als stark übergewichtig oder adipös. Solch einen hohen Wert gaben 18 Prozent der Befragten an.

Je älter die Männer sind, desto mehr wiegen sie: Während bei den Männern ab 55 Jahren mehr als 70 Prozent übergewichtig sind, trifft das bei den 20- bis 25-Jährigen nur auf ein Drittel zu.

Wie das Bundesamt weiter berichtete, wird Rauchen bei Männern unbeliebter. Im vergangenen Jahr steckten sich 27 Prozent der erwachsenen Männer zumindest gelegentlich eine Zigarette an. Bei der letzten Erhebung 2013 hatte ihr Anteil noch bei 30 Prozent gelegen.
