ABQnews| Russland / USA | Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin hat die Anti-Rassismus-Proteste in den USA als Zeichen für tiefe Krisen in dem Land gewertet. “Was passiert ist, ist ein Zeichen tiefliegender interner Krisen”, sagte Putin am Sonntag dem Fernsehsender Rossija 1. Es war das erste Mal seit Beginn der Proteste in den USA, dass sich Putin dazu äußerte.
Die Demonstrationen gegen Rassismus und Polizeigewalt in den USA waren durch den gewaltsamen Tod des Afroamerikaners George Floyd ausgelöst worden. Dieser war Ende Mai bei einem brutalen Polizeieinsatz getötet worden. Dabei hatte ihm ein weißer Polizist minutenlang das Knie auf den Nacken gedrückt.
Als Reaktion auf den Vorfall gab es landesweit die größten Demonstrationen seit den Bürgerrechtsprotesten der 60er Jahre, teilweise kam es zu schweren Ausschreitungen. Auch weltweit gibt es Protestkundgebungen.
