ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin | Nach dem schlechten Abschneiden der CDU bei der Hessen-Wahl zieht Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) Konsequenzen: Merkel will nach Angaben aus Parteikreisen nach 18 Jahren den CDU-Vorsitz abgeben. Bislang wollte sich die CDU-Vorsitzende auf dem Parteitag Anfang Dezember in Hamburg zur Wiederwahl stellen. “Sie tritt nicht mehr an”, erfuhr die Nachrichtenagentur AFP am Montag aus Parteikreisen.
Die Kanzlerin hatte bislang betont, Parteivorsitz und Kanzleramt müssten in einer Hand liegen. Daher hatte Merkel bisher auch gesagt, sie wolle sich auf dem Parteitag zur Wiederwahl stellen. Zuletzt war der parteiinterne Druck auf Merkel jedoch stetig gewachsen.
Die CDU ist in Hessen zwar erneut stärkste Kraft geworden, die Christdemokraten rutschten im Vergleich zur Wahl vor fünf Jahren aber um 11,3 Punkte auf 27 Prozent ab. Bereits am Wahlabend wurde in der CDU über die Zukunft von Kanzlerin Merkel diskutiert.
