Bund übernimmt Kosten für Behandlung von Corona-Patienten aus EU-Ländern

ABQnews| Deutschland / EU | Die Bundesrepublik will die Kosten für die Behandlung schwer kranker Corona-Patienten aus EU-Partnerstaaten in deutschen Krankenhäusern übernehmen. Mit der Kostenübernahme demonstriere Deutschland “unser Verständnis von europäischer Solidarität”, erklärte Bundesgesundheitsminister Jens Spahn (CDU) am Montag vor der Sitzung des so genannten Corona-Kabinetts, das dazu einen Beschluss fassen soll. Spahns Ministerium bezifferte die erwarteten Kosten auf 20 Millionen Euro.

“Deutschlands Krankenhäuser versorgen auf ihren Intensivstationen bereits mehr als 200 schwer kranke Corona-Patienten aus europäischen Partnerländern”, erklärte der Minister. “Die Bereitschaft und die Kapazität, bei Bedarf weitere aufzunehmen, sind da.” Nach Angaben von Spahns Ministerium liegen derzeit Anfragen für etwa 40 weitere Patienten vor.

Die Kostenübernahme gilt nach Ministeriumsangaben für beatmete, intensivmedizinisch behandelte Covid-19-Patienten, die in Deutschland behandelt werden, weil die Kapazitäten in ihren Heimatländern nicht ausreichen. Sie ist bis Ende September befristet. Betroffen sind vor allem Patienten aus Frankreich, Italien und den Niederlanden. “Europa steht auch in Krisenzeiten zusammen”, erklärte Minister Spahn.
