ABQnews| Deutschland / Japan / Hiroshima | Bundesaußenminister Heiko Maas (SPD) hat bei einem Besuch im japanischen Hiroshima für eine atomwaffenfreie Welt plädiert. “Kein Ort macht deutlicher: Wir müssen eine Welt schaffen ohne Atomwaffen”, schrieb Maas am Freitag im Kurzbotschaftendienst Twitter. Die Erinnerung an das Leid der Menschen in Hiroshima und Nagasaki dürfe nie verblassen. “Wir haben eine gemeinsame Verantwortung dafür, dass sich solches Leid niemals wiederholt.”
Die japanischen Städte Hiroshima und Nagasaki waren am Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs von US-Atombomben zerstört worden. Allein in Hiroshima wurden dabei am 6. August 1945 mindestens 140.000 Menschen getötet.
Im Anschluss an den Besuch in Hiroshima wollte Maas weiter zum G20-Außenministertreffen nach Nagoya reisen, das am Samstag beginnt. Beim G20-Treffen geht es unter anderem um Nachhaltigkeitsziele der Vereinten Nationen und fairen Handel. Nach dem G20-Treffen ist ein Treffen der Initiative für Nichtverbreitung und Abrüstung vorgesehen, zu dem auch Maas eingeladen ist.
