ABQnews| EU / kroatischen / Polen | Die konservative Europäische Volkspartei (EVP) hält am Mittwoch im kroatischen Zagreb ihren Parteitag ab (14.00 Uhr). Bei dem Treffen wählen die Delegierten des Parteienverbunds, zu dem auch die deutschen Unionsparteien CDU und CSU gehören, einen neuen Vorsitzenden. Einziger Bewerber für die Nachfolge des Franzosen Joseph Daul ist der bisherige EU-Ratspräsident Donald Tusk aus Polen.
An dem Treffen nehmen Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) und CSU-Chef Markus Söder teil. Merkel trifft dabei auch den kroatischen Ministerpräsidenten Andrej Plenkovic. Beide treten um 16.30 Uhr vor die Presse. Am Abend treffen sich die Staats- und Regierungschefs sowie Oppositionsführer der EVP (20.30 Uhr).
