ABQnews| Deutschland / Hamburg | Hamburgs Bürgermeister Peter Tschentscher (SPD) geht mit großer Rückendeckung seiner Partei in die Bürgerschaftswahl im kommenden Jahr: Die Delegierten des Landesparteitags stellten den 53-Jährigen am Samstag mit 99,1 Prozent als Spitzenkandidat auf. Tschentscher hatte das Bürgermeisteramt vor anderthalb Jahren von seinem Parteikollegen Olaf Scholz übernommen, der als Bundesfinanzminister nach Berlin wechselte.
Hamburger SPD-Politiker werteten das Ergebnis für Tschentscher als großen Vertrauensbeweis. Der Bundestagsabgeordnete Johannes Kahrs bezeichnete das Resultat auf Twitter als “traumschön”. Außen-Staatsminister Niels Annen sprach von einem “Traum-Ergebnis für unseren Bürgermeister”.
In Hamburg regiert seit 2015 eine rot-grüne Koalition unter SPD-Führung – erst unter Scholz, seit 2018 unter Tschentscher. Die Bürgerschaft soll am 23. Februar 2020 neu gewählt werden. Es handelt sich um die einzige reguläre Wahl in einem Bundesland im kommenden Jahr. Jüngsten Umfragen zufolge hat der rot-grüne Senat derzeit weiterhin eine Mehrheit.
