ABQnews| Großbritannien  / USA / EU |  In Großbritannien haben Investoren gegen Barclays und vier weitere Großbanken eine Sammelklage wegen des Verdachts auf Manipulationen des Devisenhandels eingereicht.

Die zuständige US-Anwaltskanzlei Scott & Scott bezifferte den dadurch entstandenen Schaden am Montag auf mehr als eine Milliarde Pfund (umgerechnet 1,1 Milliarden Euro). Die Klage, die sich an den US-typischen Sammelklagen ausrichtet, zielt neben Barclays auf die ebenfalls in Großbritannien ansässige Royal Bank of Scotland, die US-Institute JP Morgan und Citigroup sowie das Schweizer Geldhaus UBS ab. JP Morgan, RBS und UBS lehnten einen Kommentar ab, Barclays und Citigroup waren zunächst nicht erreichbar.

Erst vor wenigen Wochen hatte die EU-Kommission fünf Großbanken wegen der Manipulation des Devisenhandels bestraft und ihnen eine Geldbuße von insgesamt 1,07 Milliarden Euro aufgebrummt. Betroffen waren Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland, Citigroup, JPMorgan sowie die japanische MUFG. Die UBS war straffrei davon gekommen, da sie die illegalen Absprachen gemeldet hatte. Grund für die Geldbuße war, dass einzelne Händler der Banken sensible Informationen und Handelsstrategien über Online-Chaträume ausgetauscht hatten.
