ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin | Der bisherige Unionsfraktionsvize Stephan Harbarth (CDU) wird neuer Richter am Bundesverfassungsgericht. Der 46-jährige Rechtsanwalt erhielt bei seiner Wahl am Donnerstag im Bundestag die erforderliche Zweidrittel-Mehrheit. Auf Harbarth entfielen 452 Stimmen, 166 Abgeordnete votierten gegen ihn. Es gab 34 Enthaltungen. Der Innenpolitiker soll Nachfolger des scheidenden Vizepräsidenten Ferdinand Kirchhof werden. Darüber entscheidet letztlich am Freitag der Bundesrat.
Harbarths Wahl in das höchste deutsche Gericht ist nicht unumstritten. Der Deutsche Juristinnenbund bemängelte, dass keine Frau für den Posten ausgewählt wurde. Die Linke stört sich daran, dass ein Berufspolitiker aus dem Bundestag zum obersten Gericht wechselt. Ihr Abgeordneter Niema Movassat sagte im Deutschlandfunk, als Verfassungsrichter werde Harbarth über Gesetze entscheiden, die er selbst mitbeschlossen habe. Solche Interessenskonflikte sollten vermieden werden.
