ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin| / München | Bundesinnenminister Horst Seehofer legt sein Amt als CSU-Chef Mitte Januar nieder. Er werde “für den 19. Januar 2019 zu einem Sonderparteitag der CSU mit Neuwahl des Parteivorsitzenden einladen” und “zu diesem Zeitpunkt mein Amt als Parteivorsitzender zur Verfügung stellen”, erklärte Seehofer am Freitag in München. Zu seiner Zukunft als Bundesinnenminister äußerte er sich nicht.
“Das Jahr 2019 soll das Jahr der Erneuerung der CSU sein”, erklärte Seehofer. Beim Sonderparteitag werde “die Parteibasis ausreichend Gelegenheit erhalten, darüber zu diskutieren, wie die CSU wieder mehr Vertrauen in der Bevölkerung gewinnen kann”. Am 17. Dezember solle eine CSU-Vorstandssitzung zur Vorbereitung des Parteitags stattfinden.
Seehofer hatte bereits am Montag bestätigt, den CSU-Vorsitz abgeben zu wollen. Er widersprach aber Berichten, wonach er auch als Bundesinnenminister zurücktreten wolle. Am Sonntag hatte er mit der engsten CSU-Führung über seine persönliche Zukunft beraten. Im Anschluss hieß es von Teilnehmern, Seehofer wolle zu Jahresbeginn als CSU-Chef und später im Jahr als Bundesinnenminister abtreten.
