ABQnews| Saudi Arabien / Jemen | Saudi Arabien hat nach eigenen Angaben einen Angriff von Huthi-Rebellen auf das Königreich vereitelt.
Zwei ballistische Raketen und sechs mit Sprengstoff beladene Drohnen seien von den Huthi aus dem Jemen Richtung Saudi-Arabaien abgefeuert worden. Diese seien abgefangen und zerstört worden, sagte der Sprecher der von Saudi-Arabien angeführten Koalition der staatlichen Nachrichtenagentur am Sonntag.
Die Koalition hatte eine Militäroperation gegen die iranisch ausgerichtete Gruppe gestartet, nachdem diese Raketen- und Drohnenangriffe auf Saudi-Arabien verstärkt hatte, berichtete das saudische Staatsfernsehen Anfang Juli.
Im Jemen tobt seit Jahren ein Bürgerkrieg, der auch als Stellvertreterkrieg zwischen den Erzfeinden Saudi-Arabien und Iran gilt. Der Iran unterstützt die Huthi. Saudi-Arabien führt eine Koalition sunnitisch geprägter Golf-Staaten im Kampf gegen die schiitischen Huthi-Rebellen.
