ABQnews| Frankreich  / Paris | Frankreich will bei Impfstoffen und Arzneimitteln unabhängig von Ländern wie China werden: Der französische Pharmakonzern Sanofi kündigte am Dienstag mehr als 600 Millionen Euro für die Erforschung und Produktion von Impfstoffen an. Staatschef Emmanuel Macron sagte bei einem Besuch am Sanofi-Sitz in Marcy l’Etoile bei Lyon, dies sichere die “Unabhängigkeit Frankreichs”.

Für rund eine halbe Milliarde Euro plant Sanofi den Bau einer neuen Impfstoff-Produktionsstätte in Neuville-sur-Saône im Umland von Lyon. Sie soll dem Konzern zufolge “die Versorgung Frankreichs und Europas im Fall neuer Pandemien sichern”. Dort sollen 200 Arbeitsplätze entstehen. Weitere 120 Millionen Euro sollen in die Forschung fließen.

Macron betonte, dies helfe auch beim Kampf gegen das neuartige Coronavirus. Der Präsident verwies auf das Bündnis mit Ländern wie Deutschland und Italien, die gemeinsam nach einem Corona-Impfstoff suchen wollen. “Das sind wir unseren Bürgern schuldig”, betonte Macron. Nach seinen Worten soll die Produktion bestimmter Arzneimittel wie Paracetamol zudem zurück nach Frankreich verlagert werden.

Zugleich gingen tausende Krankenhaus-Mitarbeiter gegen die finanzielle Notlage der öffentlichen Kliniken auf die Straße. Proteste gab es unter anderem in Marseille und Montpellier im Süden des Landes. In der Corona-Krise war das französische Gesundheitssystem schnell an seine Grenzen gestoßen.
