ABQnews| Frankreich / Paris | Frankreich will härter gegen Rassismus und übermäßige Polizeigewalt vorgehen: Innenminister Christophe Castaner kündigte am Montag in Paris die “systematische” Suspendierung jedes Beamten an, der sich nachweislich rassistisch verhalten hat. Auch umstrittene Polizeimethoden wie der Würgegriff bei Festnahmen sollen verboten werden.
Das Innenministerium reagiert damit auf die Proteste zehntausender Franzosen gegen Polizeigewalt. Rund 23.000 Menschen hatten am Wochenende an den Tod des Schwarzen Adama Traoré erinnert, der 2016 im Polizeigewahrsam in einer Pariser Vorstadt starb. Die Demonstrationen standen unter dem Eindruck der Massenproteste in den USA nach dem Tod des Afroamerikaners George Floyd.
Innenminister Castaner stellte zudem eine Reform der Disziplinarverfahren in Aussicht. Ihre Zahl war im vergangenen Jahr im Zusammenhang mit Gewalt gegen “Gelbwesten” sprunghaft gestiegen. Für die meisten Beamten hatte dies aber keine Konsequenzen.
