ABQnews| Großbritannien/ Neuseeland | Prinz Harry und seine Frau Meghan sind am Sonntag zu einem dreitägigen Besuch in Neuseeland angekommen. Es ist die letzte Etappe auf der Tour des Ehepaars durch vier Länder im pazifischen Ozean. Der Herzog und die Herzogin von Sussex teilten sich auf ihrem Flug von Australien ein Flugzeug der Königlichen Luftwaffe Neuseelands mit der neuseeländischen Mannschaft, die an den Invictus Games für verwundete Soldaten in Sydney teilgenommen hatte.

Das Paar wurde am Flughafen der Hauptstadt Wellington von Bürgermeister Justin Lester und Neuseelands Premierministerin Jacinda Ardern begrüßt. Am Wohnsitz der Generalgouverneurin Neuseelands, Patsy Reddy, wurden Harry und Meghan mit einem traditionellen Maori-Empfang willkommen geheißen.

Das Paar besuchte eine neu eingeweihte Kriegsgedenkstätte in Wellington und legte am Grab des Unbekannten Soldaten einen Kranz nieder. Später wollten die Royals an einer Feier anlässlich des 125. Jubiläums des Frauenwahlrechts in Neuseeland teilnehmen. Für die kommenden Tage ist unter anderem eine Wanderung im Abel Tasman Nationalpark sowie ein Besuch des beliebten Touristenorts Rotorua auf der Nordinsel Neuseelands geplant.

Am Donnerstag beenden Harry und Meghan ihre 16-tägige Reise, während derer sie auch Fidschi und Tonga besuchten, und fliegen von Auckland aus zurück nach Großbritannien.
