ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin | Die Zahl der weltweit registrierten Infektionen mit dem neuartigen Coronavirus hat sich auf mehr als 1,5 Millionen erhöht. Nach einer AFP-Zählung vom Donnerstag starben bereits mehr als 87.000 Menschen an der von dem Erreger ausgelösten Lungenkrankheit Covid-19.
Am schnellsten breitet sich die Pandemie derzeit in den USA aus, wo mehr als 430.000 Infektionsfälle gezählt wurden, darunter mehr als 14.800 Todesfälle.
Europa bleibt der am stärksten betroffene Kontinent: Gezählt wurden mehr als 772.000 Infizierte, von denen 61.000 starben. Am schwersten betroffen sind Spanien mit mehr als 146.000 Infektionen und 14.500 Todesfällen sowie Italien mit fast 140.000 und mehr als 17.600 Toten.
Die AFP-Zählung bezieht sich auf 192 Länder und Territorien und basiert auf Behördenangaben einzelner Länder und Informationen der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO). Experten gehen von einer sehr hohen Dunkelziffer aus, da in vielen Ländern begrenzte Testkapazitäten bestehen.
