ABQnews| Deutschland / Berlin | In Europa sind mittlerweile bereits mehr als eine halbe Million Infektionen mit dem neuartigen Coronavirus registriert worden. Wie die Nachrichtenagentur AFP am Donnerstag auf Grundlage von Behördenangaben berechnete, steckten sich auf dem Kontinent 508.271 Menschen nachgewiesenermaßen an, 34.571 der Infizierten starben.
Europa ist der am stärksten von der Pandemie betroffene Kontinent. Mit jeweils mehr als 100.000 Fällen ist die Lage in Italien und Spanien besonders ernst. In Italien starben bereits 13.155 Infizierte – so viele wie in keinem anderem Land der Welt.
Die Zahl der weltweiten Infektionen bewegt sich auf die Millionenmarke zu: 940.815 Infektionen wurden bislang nachgewiesen, zudem wurden weltweit 47.863 Corona-Tote registriert. Weil Testkapazitäten beschränkt sind und vielfach Infizierte mit leichten oder fehlenden Symptomen nicht getestet werden, dürften die wirklichen Fallzahlen deutlich höher liegen.
