ABQnews| USA / Texas | Der US-Country-Star Kenny Rogers ist tot. Er sei zuhause im Kreise seiner Angehörigen im Alter von 81 Jahren gestorben, teilte seine Familie am Freitagabend mit. Der aus Texas stammende Sänger war für zahlreiche Hits bekannt, darunter “The Gambler”, “Lucille” und “Islands in the Stream”.
Rogers war sechs Jahrzehnte lang im Musikgeschäft tätig und gewann im Lauf der Jahre drei Grammys. 2018 beendete er aus gesundheitlichen Gründen seine Karriere.
Rogers landete insgesamt 24 Nummer-1-Hits, gewann sechs Mal den Country Music Award und war Mitglied der Country Music Hall of Fame. Er arbeitete mit anderen US-Stars wie Dolly Parton zusammen und wurde auch mit Auftritten in Film und Fernsehen, unter anderem in der “The Muppet Show” bekannt.
