ABQnews| EU / Brüssel | Die Staats- und Regierungschefs der EU beraten am Dienstagnachmittag per Videokonferenz über ein koordiniertes Vorgehen gegen die Ausbreitung des neuartigen Coronavirus. EU-Ratspräsident Charles Michel hatte die digitale Zusammenkunft anberaumt. Im Kampf gegen die Epidemie stellte die EU bislang unter anderem Unterstützung bei der Erforschung des Erregers und bei der gemeinsamen Beschaffung von Schutzkleidung in Aussicht.
Die Mitgliedstaaten der EU sind bislang sehr unterschiedlich von der Epidemie betroffen. Bei Weitem die meisten Ansteckungen mit dem neuartigen Erreger gibt es in Italien. Auch Frankreich und Deutschland verzeichnen mittlerweile jeweils mehr als 1000 Fälle der Krankheit Covid-19. Deutschland war zuletzt wegen erlassener Exportbeschränkungen für Atemschutzmasken und andere Materialien in die Kritik geraten.
