ABQnews| USA / Washington DC | Im Amtsenthebungsverfahren gegen US-Präsident Donald Trump sind von Samstag an die Verteidiger des Republikaners am Zug. Die Anwälte des Präsidenten haben im Senat über drei Tage verteilt 24 Stunden Zeit, die Vorwürfe gegen Trump in der Ukraine-Affäre zurückzuweisen. Unklar ist, ob sie die gesamte Zeit in Anspruch nehmen werden. Anschließend haben die Senatoren 16 Stunden Zeit, Fragen an Anklage und Verteidigung zu stellen.
Trump, dem in der Ukraine-Affäre Amtsmissbrauch und Kongressbehinderung vorgeworfen wird, hat ein Team von prominenten Anwälten zusammengestellt. Angeführt wird es vom obersten Rechtsberater des Weißen Hauses, Pat Cipollone, und von Trumps Privatanwalt Jay Sekulow.
