ABQnews| USA / Hollywood | Das traditionsreiche Hollywood-Filmstudio 20th Century Fox soll Medienberichten zufolge nicht mehr mit dem ultrakonservativen US-Sender Fox News in Verbindung gebracht werden. Der Disney-Konzern als neuer Eigentümer des Filmstudios streiche den Bestandteil Fox aus dem Namen, berichteten US-Medien am Freitag. Künftig heißt die Filmproduktionsfirma demnach 20th Century Studios.

Das Branchenblatt “Variety” berichtete, dass Disney sich zu der Umbenennung entschieden habe, um alle Verbindungen zu Fox zu kappen. Disney hatte im März 2019 wesentliche Bestandteile der 21st-Century-Fox-Group des Medienmoguls Rupert Murdoch übernommen, darunter die Filmproduktionsgesellschaft. Murdoch und andere Anteilseigner behielten unter anderem den Sender Fox News, die bevorzugte Nachrichtenquelle von US-Präsident Donald Trump.

Das seither ebenfalls zu Disney gehörende Filmstudio Fox Searchlight heißt den Berichten zufolge künftig Searchlight Pictures. Über eine Umbenennung der Fernsehstudios 20th Century Fox Television und Fox 21 Television sei noch nicht entschieden worden, berichtete “Variety”. Der Disney-Konzern selbst äußerte sich zunächst nicht zu den Berichten.
