ABQnews| EU / Straßburg | Die EU-Abgeordneten stimmen am Donnerstag in Straßburg über die Ausrufung des EU-weiten Klimanotstandes ab. Mehrere Fraktionen unterstützten bei einer Debatte am Montag einen entsprechenden Entschließungstext des französischen Liberalen Pascal Canfin. Zentrale Forderung ist die Festschreibung des Ziels, die Treibhausgas-Emissionen der EU-Staaten bis zum Jahr 2030 um 55 Prozent im Vergleich zum Referenzjahr 1990 zu reduzieren.
Während die Grünen allerdings noch weitergehende Forderungen in den Text einfließen lassen wollen, geht das Wort “Notstand” den Konservativen bereits zu weit. Bislang haben nach Angaben des EU-Parlaments mehr als tausend Verwaltungseinheiten weltweit (etwa Staaten, Städte und Gemeinden) wegen der Folgen des Klimawandels den Notstand ausgerufen und die Eindämmung der Erderwärmung zur Priorität erklärt.
