ABQnews| Großbritannien / London | Bei den Neuwahlen in Großbritannien kann die konservative Partei von Premierminister Boris Johnson einer Umfrage zufolge auf einen klaren Sieg hoffen. Die Tories kämen derzeit auf eine deutliche Mehrheit im neuen Parlament, erklärte das Meinungsforschungsinstitut YouGov am Mittwochabend. Johnsons Partei liege bei 359 Sitzen im Parlament, das wären 42 mehr als bei der vergangenen Parlamentswahl 2017. Die oppositionelle Labour-Partei dagegen müsste der Umfrage zufolge heftige Verluste hinnehmen.
Labour käme den Angaben zufolge nur noch auf 211 Sitze im britischen Parlament, das wären 51 weniger als bisher. Stimmenverluste drohen der Partei von Oppositionsführer Jeremy Corbyn vor allem in Regionen, in denen es einen starken Rückhalt für den von Johnson mit aller Macht vorangetriebenen Austritt des Königreichs aus der Europäischen Union gibt. Die Brexit-Frage sei der entscheidende Faktor bei den sich abzeichnenden Stimmenverschiebungen, erklärte YouGov.
Die Neuwahlen in Großbritannien finden am 12. Dezember statt.
