Von der Leyen – Europa darf im digitalen Zeitalter nicht zurückfallen

ABQnews| Deutschland / EU | Europa muss nach Worten der gewählten EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen hart arbeiten, um im digitalen Zeitalter besser mitzuhalten.

“Technologisch müssen wir auf europäische Lösungen und Standards setzen”, sagte von der Leyen am Donnerstagabend in Berlin. Dies gelte für künstliche Intelligenz, das neue 5G-Netz und die nächste Cloud-Generation. Zum Schutz des Individuums müsse die digitale Kompetenz der Bürger erhöht werden. Zudem müssten Regeln für Unternehmen geschaffen werden, die einen verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit Daten sicherstellten. Es gehe auch darum, die hohen Standards Europas in puncto Rechtsstaatlichkeit und kultureller Offenheit aufrechtzuerhalten.

Von der Leyen hielt die Laudatio bei der Preisverleihung des Axel Springer Award 2019 an die US-Wirtschaftswissenschaftlerin und Buchautorin Shoshana Zuboff (“Das Zeitalter des Überwachungskapitalismus”). Zuboff wurde für ihre langjährige kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den Folgen der Internetwelt auf Mensch und Arbeit ausgezeichnet. Springer-Chef Mathias Döpfner sagte, Zuboff habe mit Mut und klarer Haltung die problematischen Seiten der Digitalwirtschaft analysiert. Der Herausgeber von “Bild” und “Welt” ist Europas größter Digitalverlag.
