Tunesien wählt ein neues Parlament

Ein Tunesier, der bei den Parlamentswahlen in Tunesien bei einer Wahlkommission am Sonntag in Tunis seine Stimme abgegeben hat. REUTERS / Zubair Soussi

ABQnews| Tunesien  / Tunis |  In Tunesien wählen die Bürger am Sonntag ein neues Parlament. Die Wahllokale öffneten am Sonntagmorgen um 8.00 Uhr Ortszeit (9.00 Uhr MESZ). Rund sieben Millionen Wähler sind aufgerufen, bis 21.00 Uhr MESZ ihre Stimme abzugeben. 15.000 Kandidaten bewerben sich um die 217 Sitze im Parlament, der Wahlausgang gilt als völlig ungewiss. Das vorläufige amtliche Endergebnis wird für Mittwoch erwartet.

Mitte September hatte bereits die erste Runde der Präsidentschaftswahl in dem nordafrikanischen Land stattgefunden, die mit einer herben Schlappe für die derzeit herrschende politische Klasse endete. Die Stichwahl findet am kommenden Wochenende statt.

Im Gegensatz zur Wahl des Staatsoberhaupts stößt die Parlamentswahl in der Bevölkerung auf geringes Interesse. Dabei ist das Parlament für jene Fragen zuständig, die die Menschen am meisten interessieren: Die stagnierende Wirtschaft, die hohe Arbeitslosigkeit, die schlecht funktionierende Verwaltung und die anhaltende Inflation. Es ist die zweite Parlamentswahl in Tunesien, seitdem sich das Land 2014 im Gefolge des Arabischen Frühlings eine neue Verfassung gab.
