Ihr Mann sei “am Dienstag kurz vor Mitternacht nach langer und schwerer Krankheit gestorben”, teilte seine Frau Ivana Gottova am Mittwoch auf seiner Website mit. Er sei bei sich zu Hause im Kreise seiner Familie “sanft entschlafen”. Der 80-Jährige hatte erst vor kurzem mitgeteilt, dass er an akuter Leukämie erkrankt war.
Karel Gott stand mehr als sechs Jahrzehnte auf der Bühne. Im Laufe seiner Karriere veröffentlichte “die goldene Stimme aus Prag” fast 300 Plattenalben und CDs, sie wurden dutzende Millionen mal verkauft. In seiner tschechischen Heimat hatte der Sänger Kultstatus, aber auch in Deutschland besaß er einen großen Kreis treuer Fans. Die meisten Deutschen verbinden mit ihm vor allem das Lied zur “Biene Maja”.
Bereits 2015 war Karel Gott an einem aggressiven Krebs erkrankt. Vor anderthalb Jahren wurde bei ihm dann ein sogenanntes Myelodysplastisches Syndrom festgestellt, wie er vor rund drei Wochen selbst auf seiner Website schrieb. Daraus entwickelte sich demnach in den vergangenen Monaten eine akute Leukämie.
