ABQnews| UNO / New York | Mit Streiks und Protesten wollen sich Menschen rund um den Globus heute für verstärkte Anstrengungen zum Klimaschutz einsetzen. Eine der größten Kundgebungen findet in New York statt, wo am Montag zahlreiche Staats- und Regierungschefs zu einem Klimagipfel der UNO erwartet werden. Bei der Kundgebung in New York wird auch die schwedische Schülerin Greta Thunberg dabei sein, die prominenteste Figur der neuen Klima-Bewegung.
Die Schüler von 1700 New Yorker Schulen erhielten die Erlaubnis, für die Teilnahme an der Demonstration dem Unterricht fernzubleiben. Die 16-jährige Thunberg hatte mit ihrem freitäglichen Schulstreik für mehr Klimaschutz die Bewegung Fridays for Future begründet. Zu den weltweiten Aktionen am Freitag sind aber Menschen allen Alters aufgerufen.
