ABQnews| USA / Kuwait | Der Emir von Kuwait, Scheich Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, ist während eines US-Besuchs in ein Krankenhaus eingeliefert worden. Der 90-Jährige unterziehe sich dort “medizinischen Untersuchungen”, meldete Kuwaits staatliche Nachrichtenagentur Kuna am Sonntag, ohne weitere Einzelheiten zu nennen. Ein für Donnerstag geplantes Treffen mit US-Präsident Donald Trump müsse daher verschoben werden. Einen neuen Termin gebe es noch nicht. Das Weiße Haus erklärte, Trump wünsche dem Emir eine “baldige Genesung”.
Der seit 2006 amtierende Emir war am vergangenen Montag in den USA eingetroffen. Mitte August hatten die Staatsmedien gemeldet, dass sich der 90-Jährige von einem gesundheitlichen “Rückschlag erholt hat und bei guter Gesundheit ist”. Dem Emir war im Jahr 2000 ein Herzschrittmacher eingesetzt worden. Vor zwölf Jahren unterzog er sich in den USA einer Operation der Harnwege.
