ABQnews | Syrien / Türkei | Der türkische Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdogan reist heute nach Moskau zu Gesprächen über den Syrien-Konflikt. Im Fokus des Treffens mit seinem russischen Kollegen Wladimir Putin stehen die jüngsten Kämpfe in der nordsyrischen Rebellenbastion Idlib. Erdogan und Putin hatten im September 2018 eine Waffenruhe für Idlib vereinbart, doch geht die syrische Armee mit russischer Luftunterstützung seit Ende April wieder verstärkt gegen die dortigen Rebellen vor.
Die türkische Armee geriet dabei zuletzt zunehmend zwischen die Fronten. Sie hat zur Überwachung der Waffenruhe zwölf Beobachtungsposten in Idlib eingerichtet. Nach der Einnahme der Stadt Chan Scheichun durch die Truppen von Machthaber Baschar al-Assad in der vergangenen Woche wurde der türkische Beobachtungsposten in der nahegelegenen Stadt Morek eingekreist. Nun droht dort eine direkte Konfrontation mit den Assad-Truppen.
