ABQnews| Syrien / Idlib | Das syrische Militär hat drei Tage nach Inkrafttreten einer Waffenruhe die Wiederaufnahme der Kampfhandlungen im Nordwesten des Landes um die letzte verbliebene Rebellenhochburg Idlib angekündigt.
Als Grund hieß es in einer Erklärung des Militärs am Montag, die Türkei sei ihren Pflichten nicht nachgekommen. Da die Bedingungen für die Waffenruhe nicht erfüllt worden seien, werde die Offensive gegen “terroristische Organisationen” wieder aufgenommen. Einzelheiten wurden nicht genannt.
Seit Freitag hatte die Waffenruhe mehr oder weniger gehalten. Bedingung dafür war nach Angaben syrischer Staatsmedien, dass die Rebellen eine Vereinbarung zwischen Russland und der Türkei vom vergangenen Jahr respektierten, nach der in Idlib eine entmilitarisierte Pufferzone eingerichtet wird. In der Region sind nach UN-Angaben allein in den vergangenen drei Monaten mehr als 400 Zivilisten getötet worden, mehr als 440.000 Menschen sind auf der Flucht. Die Truppen von Präsident Baschar al-Assad, die von Russland unterstützt werden, versuchen seit Wochen, Idlib einzunehmen. Die Offensive ist aber ins Stocken geraten.
