ABQnews| Frankreich / Paris / IWF / EZB | Die Regierungen der Europäischen Union haben sich nach Angaben des französischen Finanzministeriums bislang noch nicht auf eine Nachfolge von IWF-Chefin Christine Lagarde einigen können. Zwar gebe es für einige Kandidaten mehr Unterstützung als für andere, erklärte das Ministerium am Donnerstag in Paris. Gleichwohl herrsche “noch kein Konsens” über einen Namen.

Die amtierende Chefin des Internationalen Währungsfonds (IWF) wird im September ihren Posten abgeben, um Chefin der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) zu werden. Frankreichs Finanzminister Bruno Le Maire wurde von seinen europäischen Kollegen damit beauftragt, die Suche nach einem Kandidaten für die Nachfolge Lagardes zu koordinieren. Traditionell wird der IWF von einem Europäer geführt, die Weltbank von einem US-Staatsbürger.

Fünf Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten sind Gespräch für Lagardes Nachfolge: Spaniens Finanzministerin Nadia Calvino, ihr portugiesischer Kollege und Eurogruppen-Chef Mario Centeno, sein Vorgänger Jeroen Dijsselbloem, die bulgarische Vize-Weltbankchefin Kristalina Georgieva und der finnische Zentralbankvorsitzende Olli Rehn.

Noch am Donnerstag wollte Le Maire eine Telefonkonferenz mit seinen europäischen Kollegen organisieren, um sie über die “jüngsten Entwicklungen” seiner umfangreichen Konsultationen zu informieren.
