ABQnews| USA / Washington / Nato / Brüssel| Die Nato simuliert ab heute mit einer Großübung den Bündnisfall. Das Manöver “Crisis Management Exercise” 2019 (CMX) dauert bis zum Mittwoch kommender Woche und soll alle internen Entscheidungsprozesse der Nato überprüfen. Beteiligt sind neben dem Nato-Hauptquartier in Brüssel die Verteidigungsministerien in den Hauptstädten der Bündnispartner. Mit dabei sind auch Finnland und Schweden als Nicht-Nato-Staaten.
Die CMX-Übungen gibt es seit 1992. Es ist die 22. CMX-Übung. Das fiktive Szenario sieht einen hybriden Angriff auf ein Mitgliedsland vor. Nach Konsultationen des Nato-Rats nach Artikel 4 soll dann der Bündnisfall nach Artikel 5 ausgerufen werden. Kritiker weisen darauf hin, dass die Übung ausgerechnet am 9. Mai startet, dem Tag des Gedenkens in Russland an das Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs.
