ABQnews | USA / China | Trotz der jüngsten Eskalation im Handelsstreit mit den USA hält China die Tür für die geplante Fortsetzung der Verhandlungen weiter offen.
Das Außenministerium in Peking teilte am Montag mit, die chinesische Delegation bereite sich auf die Reise in die USA vor. Dabei blieb jedoch vorerst offen, ob auch Verhandlungsführer und Vizeregierungschef Liu He wie zunächst geplant daran teilnehmen wird.
Auch die “South China Morning Post” berichtete, die Handelsgespräche sollten diese Woche fortgesetzt werden, wenn auch die Reise von Liu abgekürzt werden sollte. Zuvor hatten verschiedene Medien berichtet, China erwäge nach dem abrupten Kurswechsel von US-Präsident Donald Trump einen Abbruch der Gespräche. Der Präsident kündigte am Sonntag an, kommenden Freitag würden die Importzölle für bestimmte chinesische Produkte auf 25 Prozent erhöht.
