ABQnews| Kuwait / Iran | Kuwait hat sich besorgt über die Drohung des Iran geäußert, im Ölstreit mit den USA die für den Schiffsverkehr wichtige Straße von Hormus zu sperren.
“Wir betrachten diese Drohungen mit Sorge und hoffen, dass unsere Region von diesen Spannungen verschont bleibt”, zitierte die kuwaitische Nachrichtenagentur Kuna am Sonntag den stellvertretenden Außenminister Chaled al-Dscharallah.
Die iranischen Revolutionsgarden hatten zuvor eine Blockade des strategisch wichtigen Seeweges am Ausgang des Persischen Golfs ins Gespräch gebracht. Vorausgegangen war die Aufforderung der USA an andere Länder, den Kauf iranischen Erdöls bis Mai zu stoppen. Andernfalls würden sie Sanktionen unterliegen. Die USA hatten Ölkäufe im Iran vergangenes Jahr erneut mit Sanktionen belegt, den größten Ölkunden des Landes – die meisten davon in Asien – aber für weitere sechs Monate begrenzte Importe gestattet.
