ABQnews| Großbritannien / USA | US-Präsident Donald Trump wird Anfang Juni zum Staatsbesuch nach Großbritannien reisen. Der Präsident habe die Einladung von Königin Elizabeth II. angenommen, teilte der Buckingham-Palast am Dienstag mit. Aus Regierungskreisen verlautete, auch ein Treffen mit Premierministerin Theresa May seit geplant. Bei seiner Reise vom 3. bis 5. Juni wird Trump von seiner Frau Melania begleitet.
Der amtierende US-Präsident hatte Großbritannien im Juli zum ersten Mal besucht. Damals brüskierte er May mit harter Kritik an deren moderater Haltung gegenüber der EU. Auch das Treffen mit der Queen verlief im vergangenen Sommer nicht ohne Faux-Pas. Nach der Zusammenkunft im Schloss Windsor plauderte Trump über Inhalte seines Gesprächs mit der britischen Monarchin. Eigentlich verbietet dies das Protokoll des britischen Königshauses.
