ABQnews| Deutschland / Belgien / Brüssel /Bonn | Astronomen ist die erste Aufnahme eines Schwarzen Lochs gelungen. Die Forscher präsentierten das aus Daten des Radioteleskopnetzwerks Event Horizon gewonnene Bild am Mittwoch auf einer Pressekonferenz in Brüssel und zeitgleich in fünf weiteren Städten weltweit. Die Aufnahme zeigt einen dunklen Kreis umhüllt von einem flammend orangeroten Lichtring.
Das Event Horizon Telescope ist ein Verbund aus acht riesigen Radioteleskopen, die über den gesamten Globus verteilt sind. An der Auswertung der Daten war das Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie in Bonn als eine von zwei Forschungsstätten weltweit maßgeblich beteiligt.
Schwarze Löcher zählen zu den seltsamsten Objekten im Universum. Ihre Gravitation ist so groß, dass nicht einmal das Licht ihnen entkommen kann. Allerdings gibt es eine Wechselwirkung zwischen dem Schwarzen Loch und der Materie in seiner unmittelbaren Umgebung, die beobachtet werden kann.
