ABQnews| Deutschland / Mannheim | Die Planken in Mannheim zwischen Wasserturm und Paradeplatz sind nach vielen Jahren neugestaltet worden. Nach über zweijähriger Bauzeit mit viel Lärm, Schmutz und Behinderungen wurde am Wochenende gefeiert. Die Fußgängerzone erstrahlt in neuen Glanz. Nach der Eröffnung am Samstag mit Oberbürgermeister Peter Kurz, Vertreterinnen und Vertreter der RNV, Handel und Lokalpolitik, fand am Sonntag ein verkaufsoffener Sonntag statt! Zwischen Paradeplatz und Wasserturm können die Bürgerinnen und Bürger auf 220.000 Quadratmetern Verkaufsfläche shoppen und Schaufenstern bummeln. Die Straßencafés laden zum Verweilen ein.

Teil der Neugestaltung war die Verlegung neuer Gleise für die Stadtbahn, neue Möblierung, barrierefreier Ausbau der Stadtbahnhaltestellen, neue Beleuchtung und ein neuer Belag. Besonders die Intarsien mit den Quadratebezeichnungen sind hervorzuheben.
