ABQnews| USA / Apple |  Der US-Technologieriese Apple wird offenbar am 25. März einen eigenen Video-Streamingdienst vorstellen. Der Konzern verschickte Einladungen für die Präsentation mit dem Titel “It’s show time” und einem Video mit Film-Countdown. Medienberichten zufolge werden die Schauspielerinnen Jennifer Aniston und Reese Witherspoon bei der Präsentation anwesend sein. Über den Apple-Streamingdienst wird seit Monaten spekuliert. Angeblich will der Konzern mindestens eine Milliarde Dollar investieren.

Apple verdient einen Großteil seines Geldes mit dem iPhone und will sich breiter aufstellen. Konzernchef Tim Cook hatte zuletzt Ende Januar bekräftigt, Apple werde mehr auf Inhalte zu setzen. Er verwies auf einen jüngst unterschriebenen Vertrag mit US-Starmoderatorin Oprah Winfrey. Im Dezember war bekannt geworden, dass Apple offenbar bereits eine neue Zeichentrickserie mit den “Peanuts” produziert.

Apple bietet bereits in bescheidenem Umfang Videos in seinem Onlinestore iTunes an. Mit einem Streamingdienst und selbst produzierten Filmen und Serien würde Apple den etablierten Anbietern Netflix und Amazon Prime Konkurrenz machen.

Den US-Medienberichten zufolge könnte Apple am 25. März auch einen Abodienst für Nachrichten ankündigen. Bislang hatte sich der Internetkonzern demnach mit den Verlagen nicht über die Gebühr für die journalistischen Inhalte einigen können.
