ABQnews| Kenia / Nairobi | Bei dem islamistischen Anschlag auf einen Hotelkomplex in der kenianischen Hauptstadt Nairobi sind mindestens 15 Menschen getötet worden. Unter den Opfern seien auch Ausländer, sagte ein Polizeivertreter am Mittwoch vor Ort. Ein zweiter Polizeivertreter bestätigte die Opferzahl.
Die Zahl der Toten könnte aber noch höher liegen: Die Sicherheitskräfte haben wegen der anhaltenden Kämpfe noch nicht den gesamten Gebäudekomplex durchsuchen können.
Bislang war die Zahl der Toten nach der Attacke unklar gewesen; ein AFP-Fotograf hatte am Anschlagsort fünf Leichen gesehen. Das US-Außenministerium bestätigte, unter den Todesopfern sei ein US-Bürger.
Angreifer hatten den Hotel- und Gewerbekomplex im gehobenem Stadtviertel Westlands am Dienstag gestürmt. Den Anschlag hat die islamistische Shebab-Miliz für sich reklamiert. Die vor allem in Somalia aktive Gruppe ist mit dem Terrornetzwerk Al-Kaida verbunden.
