ABQnews| Deutschland / Griechenland | Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) reist heute zu ihrem ersten offiziellen Besuch in Griechenland seit 2014 (16.30 Uhr). In Athen führt sie zunächst ein Gespräch mit Ministerpräsident Alexis Tsipras über bilaterale, europapolitische und internationale Themen. Später essen die beiden Regierungschefs gemeinsam zu Abend. Für Freitag steht ein Frühstück mit Vertretern aus Griechenlands Kultur, Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft auf Merkels Programm. Danach nimmt sie in der Deutschen Schule in Athen an einer Diskussion mit Schülern über die Zukunft Europas teil.
Am Grabmal des unbekannten Soldaten in Athen will die Kanzlerin einen Kranz niederlegen. Außerdem trifft sie Präsident Prokopis Pavlopoulos und Oppositionsführer Kyriakos Mitsotakis und isst mit griechischen Wirtschaftsvertretern zu Mittag. Die Schuldenkrise Griechenlands hatte die deutsch-griechischen Beziehungen in den vergangenen Jahren auf die Probe gestellt. Im vergangenen August verließ das Land den Euro-Rettungsschirm.
