ABQnews| USA / China | Im Handelskonflikt zwischen den USA und China ist eine Eskalation vorerst vom Tisch: Peking werde die mit Washington auf dem G20-Gipfel vereinbarten Handelserleichterungen “sofort” umsetzen, sagte der Sprecher des chinesischen Handelsministeriums, Gao Feng, am Donnerstag. Dies betreffe landwirtschaftliche Produkte, die Bereiche Energie und Autos sowie andere Waren, fügte der Sprecher hinzu.
Chinas Staatschef Xi Jinping und US-Präsident Donald Trump hatten sich am Rande des G20-Gipfels in Buenos Aires vor wenigen Tagen auf einen Waffenstillstand in ihrem Handelskonflikt verständigt. Bei einem Abendessen einigten sie sich darauf, vorerst auf angedrohte neue Strafzölle zu verzichten.
Die USA stellten China zugleich ein Ultimatum: Wenn Peking den Forderungen nach einem Abbau von Handelsbarrieren nicht binnen 90 Tagen nachkommt, sollen die Strafzölle wie geplant steigen. Schon am Mittwoch hieß es dazu aus Peking, China werde mit der Umsetzung bestimmter Punkte beginnen, bei denen es einen Konsens gebe – “je schneller desto besser”.
