Internationale Buchmesse in Kairo startet am 25. Januar

ABQnews| Ägypten / Kairo |  Die Buchmesse ist ab dem 26. Januar von 10 bis 20 Uhr für Besucher geöffnet, außer freitags und samstags, wenn sie um 21 Uhr schließt.

Ägyptens Kulturministerin Nevine El-Kilani wird laut Mitteilung in einer Pressekonferenz am Montag weitere Einzelheiten zur Ausstellung bekannt geben.

Ehrengast ist in diesem Jahr das Haschemitische Königreich Jordanien.

Der verstorbene ägyptische Dichter Salah Jaheen wird die Persönlichkeit des Jahres sein, während der ägyptische Schriftsteller Kamel Kilani, der Pionierarbeit in der Kinderliteratur in der arabischen Welt geleistet hat, die Persönlichkeit des Jahres der Kinderausstellung sein wird.

Die 54. Ausgabe der Messe wird laut Organisatoren und offiziellen Teilnehmern mit einer hohen Beteiligung erwartet.

Die letzte Ausgabe verzeichnete eine außergewöhnliche Beteiligung, selbst inmitten strenger Coronavirus-Beschränkungen und kalter Temperaturen.

Die 1969 eingeweihte und von der General Egyptian Book Organization organisierte Kairoer Internationale Buchmesse ist eine der größten der Welt und die älteste in der arabischen Welt und bringt Hunderte von Buchhändlern aus der Region und der ganzen Welt zusammen.

Rund zwei Millionen Besucher besuchen die Messe jedes Jahr.

Zwischen 1984 und 2019 fand die Messe in der Cairo International Fair Zone in Nasr City statt, findet aber jetzt im geräumigeren und besser ausgestatteten International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo statt.
