ABQnews| Ägypten / Kairo | Ägyptens Bevölkerung hat nach einem Anstieg um eine Million Menschen in 221 Tagen 104 Millionen erreicht. Dies gab die Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) bekannt.

Über sieben Monate und elf Tage verzeichnete das Land alle 19 Sekunden ein Neugeborenes, wobei die Bevölkerung täglich um 4.525 Menschen zunahm. Inzwischen wurden 1.566 Todesfälle registriert. Anfang Februar erreichte die einheimische Bevölkerung 103 Millionen mit einem Anstieg von einer Million Menschen über sieben Monate und 22 Tage und verzeichnete täglich durchschnittlich 1.858 Todesfälle.

Eine frühere Studie von CAPMAS stufte Ägypten als das bevölkerungsreichste Land in der arabischen Welt und das drittgrößte in Afrika nach Nigeria und Äthiopien ein.

Die ägyptischen Behörden haben ihre Bemühungen intensiviert, um insbesondere in ländlichen Gebieten das Bewusstsein für die Herausforderungen zu schärfen, die die Überbevölkerung für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung mit sich bringt.

In einer früheren Erklärung sagte der ägyptische Präsident Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, das Bevölkerungswachstum sei eine der größten Bedrohungen für das Land, das unter großen wirtschaftlichen Herausforderungen leidet.
