ABQnews| Ägypten / Kairo | Der ägyptische Präsident Abdel Fattah El-Sisi hat im Rahmen einer landesweiten Impfaktion eine Coronavirus-Impfung erhalten, teilte sein Büro am Sonntag mit. Die Erklärung des Büros enthielt keine Einzelheiten zur Art des Impfstoffs, den El-Sisi erhalten hatte.
Ägypten hat im Rahmen des globalen COVAX-Abkommens mit der Verabreichung von Dosen des COVID-19-Impfstoffs von AstraZeneca begonnen. Das Abkommen regelt die Lieferung von Impfstoffen für Länder mit niedrigerem Einkommen. Ebenso von Chinas Sinopharm hergestellte Spritzen bereitzustellen.
Awad Tag el-Din, El-Sisis Berater für Gesundheitsfragen, teilte am Freitag einem lokalen Nachrichtensender mit, dass in Ägypten bisher rund eine halbe Million Menschen geimpft worden seien. Die Zahl der Coronavirus-Fälle hat in den letzten Wochen stetig zugenommen, und das Gesundheitsministerium meldete am Samstag 912 neue Fälle und 39 weitere Todesfälle.
