ABQnews| Libyen / Tripolis | Libyen hat von der COVAX-Initiative mehr als 57.000 Dosen eines COVID-19-Impfstoffs erhalten. Die UN-Kinderagentur UNICEF sagte, die am späten Donnerstag eingetroffenen Dosen seien für Gesundheitspersonal, Menschen über 75 und Menschen mit chronischen Krankheiten vorgesehen.
Das National Center for Disease Control in Libyen gab an, dass 57.600 Dosen des Oxford AstraZeneca-Impfstoffs in der ersten COVAX-Lieferung nach Libyen enthalten waren. Am Sonntag erhielt Libyen 101.250 Dosen des in Russland hergestellten Sputnik V-Impfstoffs.
In Libyen sind COVID-19-Fälle angestiegen. Der Land mit rund 7 Millionen Einwohnern hat seit Beginn der Pandemie mehr als 166.000 bestätigte Fälle und 2.799 virusbedingte Todesfälle gemeldet. Es wird jedoch angenommen, dass die tatsächlichen Zahlen, wie auch anderswo auf der Welt, weitaus höher sind.
